2026 Johnson County Park and Recreation District Community Survey
The Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) is a nationally acclaimed agency that has a long history of investing in parks, trails, programs, and facilities that enhance quality of life across the county. These investments are guided by community input, and many of the most meaningful improvements you see today exist because residents like you took the time to share their perspectives.
While significant progress has been made, important decisions still lie ahead. Some remaining priorities are critical to the long-term health, accessibility, and sustainability of our parks and recreation system. Your voice is especially important. This is a valuable opportunity to influence decisions that will impact residents of all ages, neighborhoods, and interests.
The 2024 update to JCPRD’s Strategic Plan (Legacy Plan) was adopted by the JCPRD Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners after a robust community engagement process. The plan outlines a vision and implementation strategy for the next 15 years (through 2039) and is centered around four broad legacy elements:
- Providing a Thriving Park & Recreation System: Continued development of parkland, streamway corridors, trails, and quality public spaces that serve diverse community needs.
- Inspiring Play, Culture & Education: Expanding programming and experiences that enrich recreation, culture, history, outdoor learning, and wellness for all ages.
- Fostering & Inspiring Stewardship: Proactive care and adaptive management of parks, facilities, and natural resources, including deferred maintenance and capital replacement.
- Advancing Organizational Readiness & Access: Strengthening workforce development, equity of access, partnerships, and operational readiness to support long-term success.
Together, these focus areas form the structured pathway for long-range decision-making, investment prioritization, and community engagement. By completing this survey, you are helping ensure that future investments reflect what matters most to the community, not assumptions, but real experiences and real needs. Your feedback will directly help shape how these priorities are addressed, funded, and delivered in the years to come.
